FBCM Victory Garden
“So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.” 1 Corinthians 3:7 ESV
The FBCM Victory Garden began in Spring 2022 in a church member’s unused garden space.
The purpose is to provide an inter generational opportunity for prayer, Bible study and fellowship. The harvest is donated to local missions, including BUCM’s Soup Kitchen.
Separate events have been held for FBC Youth, FBC Children and Parents, and FBC Preschool/Afterschool families and staff. Experienced and inexperienced gardeners have supported the garden, processed and delivered the harvest.
2022’s harvest to date:
20lbs red potatoes, 22 lbs purple heirloom potatoes, 4cups peas, 4cups sugar snap peas, 6 cups black eyed peas, 4 watermelon, 4 pumpkins, 222lbs sweet potatoes, green beans, okra and zucchini.
October 2022 Sweet Potato Harvest
166lbs of sweet potatoes were harvested from the Victory Garden and picked up by Burke United Christian Ministries to be sent to the soup kitchen.
